queer:raum Annual Exhibition 2025

03. – 31.07.2025 / Feierwerk Farbenladen in Munich

The 2025 annual exhibition of the artist collective queer:raum was curated by Florian Tenk and me and was titled "Forms of Resistance."

At a time when political and social tensions are increasing, it is becoming increasingly difficult to imagine what effective forms of resistance might look like. Is queer existence alone already lived resistance? How do we manage to create resistant spaces? Spaces that are sustainable and enduring? Spaces in which not only marginalized bodies are resistant bodies? Which forms of resistance precede us and are the basis for our current freedoms and rights? What might community care look like?

The exhibition "Forms of Resistance" brings together artistic positions that address these questions. The works of our 10 artists reflect individual and collective strategies of resistance, be it through photography, film, or installation. The exhibition is accompanied by a program of workshops, performances, and DJ sets.

We invite you to experience the Farbenladen as a queer:space—a place of exchange, solidarity, and shared visions. The exhibition is supported by the Cultural Department of the City of Munich.

In my current work, I explored alternative forms of housing and demonstrated how communal living can enable resistance to exploitative and authoritarian structures. Using a watercolor paint box and a recording device, I intuitively documented the Angersdorf Court Syndicate and provide insights into this community.

queer:raum Annual Exhibition 2024

02. – 30.08.2024 / Feierwerk Farbenladen in Munich

It was a long time since I showed analog artworks again. And the creation process was very long. In 2020, I worked a lot with black ink on sumi-e paper. I was absolutely fascinated by this delicate paper and the boldness of the black ink, by the wild and sometimes unpredictable way they interact, how water influences it, and to what extent I can control it and when I need to surrender. On a very Dionysian night, I created a work that carried a very special power. I learned a lot about runes and alchemical symbols — everything was working, boiling, and bubbling in my head for a long time. That night, everything exploded on the paper. I also charged the artwork with crystals. Mainly rock crystal, but also black tourmaline and turquoise. The result was two large works. And these two scrolls lay around for years; they moved with me when I had to move into a new apartment—they lived with me. For the exhibition, I mounted the papers on canvas. Whenever I felt something was missing, I added a sheet from my "Meditations on Paper" stack. I made my own paints from pure pigment. I layered them with wax from candles I made with my coven at Imbolc. Then I added a few more layers of interference paint and gloss varnish. I also showed digital works that played with the same symbols.

Queer Feminist Resilience

01. – 31.03.2024 / LEZ München / Gruppenausstellung mit Queer:Raum

Digital paintings like those in the exhibition "Modern Witchcraft" combined with themes from the LGBTQ+ community. My first exhibition with the artist collective queer:raum, of which I have been a part for several years.

Modern Witchcraft

30.09. – 29.10.2023 / Café Lozzi in München

During the plague years (Coronavirus), I worked primarily digitally. I delved deeper into themes that fascinated me: folklore and witchcraft. Looking back, some motifs may seem generic, while others tell a personal, mystical story. Both were important processes for me: They're about getting closer to a general idea about witchcraft and a personal symbolism. Both shaped "Modern Witchcraft." It was nice to bring the motifs back into physical form and see them at Café Lozzi.

Faunus

10.01. – 09.02.2020 / SUB München

In the series “Faunus” I explore my own bisexuality.

Debute Reloaded

29.10. – 12.11.2019 / Salon Irkutzk in München

Ten years after my exhibition "Debut," I felt like I was at a similar point—after the California adventure and at the beginning of my first independent venture. A few experiences richer, but with an uncertain future ahead of me, still with a great deal of playfulness in my heart. And so I immersed myself in the same energy and created acrylic paintings, which I exhibited alongside some from "Debut" in the beautiful Irkutzk salon.

Consanguine

18. – 29.05.2015 / Friday Galery in München

Inspired by augmented reality as a new tool for problem-solving, I wanted to explore its expressive potential for art. In March 2015, I spent nine days on my late grandmother's farm in a remote part of Franconia, where I spent most of my childhood. I painted traditional watercolor images of the nature around me. Later, I overlaid these images with AR to create a connection between nature and technology, past and future, objective and personal. I explored different narrative levels.

Enjoy Forestlife

26.11.2010 - 31.01.2011 / Edwards Galerie, Augsburg

Back in Germany, I began working on a tedious, artisanal (as I see it) technique: linocut. Stylized animals that carry messages, displayed in warm, cozy surroundings during the cold winter months.

All Alright

01. – 30.05. 2009 / Museu Bernardo in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal

I had my own room at a group exhibition at the Museo Bernardo. I filled it with flying white doves. They fascinated me. I drew them over and over again. On one wall hung a large painting on untreated cotton fabric. I wonder what happened to it... On another wall hung twelve large paintings on paper. Ink and acrylic paint. Single doves. Flocks of doves. On another wall hung many small graphite drawings of a flying dove. On another wall was the projection of an animated video. A dove flew to Jonsí and sang "All alright." I think I wanted to say something about peace and freedom...

Debut

05. –27.02. 2009 / Espaço Galeria, Caldas da Rainha, Portugal

My first solo exhibition. Caldas da Rainha, Portugal, 2009. It was totally wild! I was like a child playing with paint. I brought joys and fears onto the canvas unfiltered. I layered abstract colors, then screen printing, then drawing, then paint again...
